Week 3: Mocap workshop

Today we tried the Vicon Optical Motion Capture solution. It was a completely new and professional experience. Vicon is a leading company specializing in motion capture technology. Their systems are widely used in many industries such as film, video games, sports and biomechanics. Vicon’s motion capture solutions precisely track and record the movements of humans and objects, providing highly accurate data for animation, analysis and research. Known for its reliability, high resolution and ability to capture complex movements in real time, the technology has become an essential tool for professionals seeking detailed motion analysis and realistic animation. The essence of motion capture is that 16 ultra-sensitive cameras arranged in a circle on the ceiling capture the movement of 54 reflective points (excluding fingers) attached to the costume.

Week 2: Plan

After watching “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”, my heart couldn’t calm down for a long time. It was the excitement I felt when watching Spider-Man scaling the walls as a child that ignited my desire to create this animation.

So I looked up a lot of footage related to the Spider-Man animation.

I selected several shots from them and combined them together as the reference for my animation this time.

Week 10: Layout final

I have completed the last round of feedback. For my final graduation project, I’ll probably continue with the same creative ideas as before, but I’ll change the characters and scene settings because I want to incorporate more performance elements.

Week 9: Layout tutorial 5

After numerous revisions, this storyboard has basically reached its conclusion. I’m not sure if it will be regarded as my final project storyboard. Because this topic has always been something I wanted to explore. However, I feel that if I were to actually undertake it, it would be a huge project for me.

This time, it was a borrowing from a movie—the scene of frantic running

Thank you again ! Georgeeee!!!

The last scene has always been something I didn’t know how to handle until the teacher recommended a scene from a movie to me. Then I also realized that I should watch more movies to accumulate my visual perception.

Week 5: Layout Tutorial

Today we’re going to continue refining our layout design. As for the character and background sections, I need to think about what happens before and after my story.

During the week, I used my set-building character feature to move the cubes in the layout.

Because I didn’t want all the scenes to be in one file, I made them separately. George pointed out many issues regarding the shots for me, and I benefited a lot from it.

There are some actions that are contrary to my theme and also need to be improved.
